"Defined Benefits vs. Defined Contribution" (CE #95682)
Mike Smith, President of The Brokerage, Inc.

The future of healthcare consumerism is inextricably linked to a defined contribution payment structure. The cost control benefit has long been understood. However, the employees’ recognition of the “cost-shifting” has limited widespread utilization of this mechanism. New creative plan design strategies can now give employees a “trade-off” for accepting the greater financial responsibility imposed.

Better understand the paradigm shift away from a defined benefits platform of providing employee benefits to a defined contribution model where the employee can consult with a licensed agent to seek advice on which benefits to own for themselves and/or their dependents and tailor benefits to their individual needs.

Mike Smith entered the insurance business in 1993 as a marketing and agent service representative at The Brokerage, Inc. He is now the President of The Brokerage, Inc., an insurance marketing organization licensed in all 50 states that specializes in life, health, financial, senior insurance products and marketing services. Mike is responsible for marketing strategy, operations, sales support, website development, public relations, and business development.

DAHU would like to thank everyone who contributed to the canned food drive at the October luncheon. Your generosity supplied not only canned goods but $74 in cash, which was used to purchase additional canned goods that were delivered to the North Texas Food Bank. Your support will help bring joy to underprivileged families at Thanksgiving, thank you!

DAHU will be having the annual Toys for Tots toy drive at the November 7th luncheon and we again ask for your support! The toys collected will be delivered in plenty of time for the holidays. While donations will also be taken, new toys are most needed. Your contribution is appreciated and will bring smiles to many children's faces when they have something to open from Santa!
