Sponsor Foster Benefits Presents:

Is Self-Funding the New Mantra? - Part I & Part II

(1 Hr CE #111189 & 1 Hr CE #111190)

Already utilized by one in two organizations nationwide, self-funding is gaining new momentum in the face of healthcare reform as employers are actively searching for new alternatives to control their health benefits spend. Interest in self-funding continues to mount because of "pay or play" rules, increasing insured plan premiums, and employers' desires for a better strategic position to facilitate change.

Taught as two one hour CEs with a short break in between, this presentation will include the pros and cons of self-funding, the technical aspects you need to know to place a case, and a "case study" from prospect to implementation.

Rina Tikia, FLMI has almost 40 years of experience in the healthcare industry, placing her emphasis on employee benefits from the beginning. In 1995 she founded Tikia Consulting Group, Inc. (TCG), which has allowed her to further develop her consultative approach to assisting clients with procuring insurance, providing risk assessments, consulting services, insurance-related legislative/regulatory updates, and underwriting guidelines.

In addition to traditional group products, TCG covers all aspects of the market, including medical tourism, worksite products, self-funding, reference-based pricing, 401(k)s, and more! A majority of Rina's time is spent working with self-funding programs that have been successful in reducing benefit costs and providing unique and innovate rather than "off the shelf" solutions.

Very active in NAHU, Rina has been President of the Louisiana Association of Health Underwriters and is a Past President of the New Orleans Association of Health Underwriters.
